(((S))) is an anonymous one-man project from Copenhagen, active since 2009 and deliberately resistant to identification — the name is constructed to be ungoogleable, no photographs exist in circulation. The music operates without a face, which turns out to suit it well: guitar-driven post-punk with a dream-pop undertow, unhurried and melancholic, somewhere between The Jesus & Mary Chain and The Cure, with a Scandinavian bleakness that feels entirely its own.
The debut album Ghost (April 2009, afmusic) was named album of the year by British music writer Mick Mercer. Phantom (2010) followed with airplay on BBC Radio and stations in Australia and the United States. The Moon Is My Sun (2012) shifted toward older electronic production methods, stepping back from the guitar-heavy approach of the first two records. A run of German-language cover singles the same year was compiled as The Deutsch EP.
Since then, (((S))) has released steadily: Welcome to the Heartland (2014), Carcrash (2015), American Innocence Pts. 1 & 2 (2016), Black Dog (2019), The World of (((S))) (2021), Mama, Do You Think It's Gonna Rain All Day? and Maverick (2022), and Ghost in the Snow (Remixes) in late 2024.
The project remains rooted in shadow - and intends to stay there.
