TRALALAS is the dark pop project of Danish artist Morten Alsinger, whose creative journey began in the electro-punk underground of Jutland and Copenhagen during the 1980s and early ‘90s. After years of playing in various bands, life eventually pulled him in a different direction. In 1996, following the birth of his first child, Alsinger stepped away from music to focus on family life.
That chapter lasted until 2008, when he found himself drawn back to music. A gift from a friend, the Ableton software, reignited his passion and led to the formation of the electronic duo VERTICAL, a project that explored dubbed electronica and released two albums and an EP over ten years.
Eventually, Alsinger felt the pull of analog instrumentation once again. Around this time, he met singer-songwriter Heidi Lindahl, and a new collaboration took shape. The two began writing songs and performing together, blending Lindahl’s distinctive vocals with Alsinger’s growing body of material. Influenced by artists such as Beach Boys, Walker Brothers, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Bauhaus, Joy Division/New Order, Syd Barrett, and Marc Bolan, Alsinger began developing a sound that sits somewhere between delicate melancholy and brooding power—a sound he loosely describes as dark pop.
A turning point came through Alsinger’s volunteer work as booker and event manager at Frederiksberg Country Club, where he met producer Thomas Li during the planning of the CHERRY MUSIC festival. Li, intrigued by tracks Alsinger had posted to SoundCloud under the name TRALALAS, quickly came on board. The pair began recording together in June 2024.
One year later, the debut TRALALAS album - featuring nine tracks - is complete. The first single, “Winter on the Vine,” will be released on July 4th, 2025, followed by the full album in November 2025.
