About
(Take Me) Offline / …And October Awaits! is a new double single from The Silence Industry, and the first in a new series of releases from the Vancouver project. The Bandcamp edition extends it to four tracks.
The two title tracks are driven by guitar, bass and drum machine. Both are energetic, but they pull in different directions. “(Take Me) Offline” leans towards shoegaze and Britpop. It is a song about unplugging, with grass, wind and breath set against wiring and pulsing blue lights. “…And October Awaits!” turns towards deathrock and prog. It gathers momentum against the “chrome gods” being built elsewhere and closes on the plain insistence that we are still breathing.
Two further pieces are available only here. “Should the Human Race Survive?” is an improvised dark ambient noise piece. “Whirlwinds of Danger” is a mostly acoustic arrangement of the English-language version of a 19th-century Polish revolutionary song.
In late 2025, in the wake of The Stars Above Are Looking Down, Graham was given some computer parts while writing new songs, and TSI finally rebuilt their home studio. These are the first results: recorded and mixed at home, mostly with free and open-source software.
