About
Following the release of "Under Your Spell" in May, Danish composer and songwriter Nils Lassen returns with Somersault, a new single taken from the forthcoming album "Rain Steam Speed", due September 4th, 2026, via Aenaos Records.
Where "Under Your Spell" moved through nocturnal moods and quiet tension, "Somersault" feels lighter somehow. A song about losing balance for a moment and finding yourself unexpectedly present inside it.
Built around steady rhythms, soft waves of guitar and Lassen's understated cinematic atmosphere, the track drifts between movement and stillness. There's summer light in it, open space, a feeling of hanging briefly outside time.
"There's no yesterday. No tomorrow. Just a now."
At its heart, "Somersault" is about closeness. About recognizing yourself in other people. About those small moments where things suddenly feel simple and real again.
The single continues the mood and direction of "Rain Steam Speed", an album shaped by dream pop textures, darkwave undercurrents, and a quiet sense of melancholy. Listeners have compared Lassen's recent work to artists like Talk Talk, Slowdive and Nick Cave, though his songs tend to unfold in a more intimate and understated way.
With "Somersault", Nils Lassen opens another small window into the world of the upcoming album. Warm, reflective, and gently disoriented.
