Danish composer and songwriter Nils Lassen releases his new album "Rain Steam Speed", an eleven-track record that gathers the singles of the past year into one continuous work. After more than two decades of writing for film and stage, Lassen turned toward his own songs, and this album is where that turn arrives in full.
The title borrows from Turner's painting of a train crossing a bridge through rain and mist. It fits the music: motion seen through weather, clear shapes dissolving at the edges. The songs move between dream pop, cinematic pop and darkwave, reflective and intimate, quietly disoriented.
Lassen produced, arranged and performed most of the album himself, joined by Tomas Ortved on drums, Anders Wallin and Marianne van Toornburg on background voices, Anders Wallin on fretless bass, and Kitty Drue on guitars. Recorded and mixed at Ambassador Studios in Copenhagen, mastered by Tommy Steuer at TS-Musix Studio in Leipzig.
Rain Steam Speed is out now on Aenaos Records, available digitally and on vinyl.
